POINTS RUMMY

What is Points Rummy

The point rummy is a variant of the 13 cards Indian rummy where players play for points with a predetermined rupee value. A player who makes the first valid statement wins the game with 0 points and wins all the cash based on the opponent’s total points. It is one of the most popular and fastest variants of rummy games.

Winnings = (Sum of all points earned by opponents) X (Rupee value of point) – SilkRummy fees.

How to play Points Rummy at Silk Rummy?

Points Rummy at SilkRummy.com is played by 2 to 6 players with 2 card packs (including one printed joker per pack).

Players play for points that have a fixed rupee value. Each player must bring a minimum amount to the rummy table. A draw will decide which player makes the first move. Each player receives a set of 13 cards at random. The package is placed in the open deck indicating that the game has started. The remaining cards are placed face down in the closed slot of the deck. A wild card is randomly selected at the start of each game.

Printed Joker: In case a printed wild card is selected as a wild card for a game, players can also use the Ace card of any suit as a wild card in their sets and/or sequences.

Objective: Organize the 13 cards in hand in sequences and/or sets. Each player takes turns choosing/discarding a card from the open/closed deck to complete sets and/or sequences. You can use one or more wilds to complete your sets and/or sequences. You can move a card to the ending slot to declare your sets and sequences. The player must show the cards in hand by grouping them into sets/sequences and clicking g on the ‘Declare’ button.

Required: To end the game, you must declare at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence.

Caution: With two decks, you cannot use the same card twice in a set, for example, 7 ♠ 7 ♠ 7 ♥ is not a valid set.

How is Points Rummy scoring done?

Decide the winner: The first player to finish wins after completing the objective of the game. The winner gets 0 points.

If one or more players leave the game on their first move, they get 20 points each and the game continues until a single winner emerges. If one or more players leave the game after their first move, they get 40 points each and the game continues until a single winner emerges. If a player declares without meeting the objective of the game, he gets 80 points and the game continues until there is a winner.

Calculation of points for the player who loses:

Each card carries a certain number of points. The losing player gets points equal to his hand score which is calculated as follows:

  • J, Q, K & A of any suit worth 10 points each.
  • All other numbered cards have the same points as their face value, eg. 7 has 7 points and 3 has 3 points.
  • Wild cards have zero points.
  • At the end of the game, the score of a losing player’s hand is calculated by adding points for cards that are not grouped as sets/sequences with the following exceptions. If the losing player does not have a pure sequence, all cards are counted. If the losing player does not have two sequences but has a pure sequence, the pure sequence is not counted.
  • A player can earn a maximum of 80 points. For example, if a player’s hand score is 85, he/she will still get only 80 points. But if a rummy player’s hand score is 75, he/she will get 75 points.
  • Special case: if a player loses 3 consecutive turns, he/she is automatically removed from the game. This means that this player gets an average score of 40 points.
What are the maximum points that a player can get?

A player can earn a maximum of 80 points. This means that regardless of the player with the highest value cards, the points have a limit of 80.

Anything below 80 is awarded as-is.

How are earnings calculated in Rummy Points?

A winner wins all the cash at the end of each game as follows:

Winnings = (Sum of points of all opponents) X (Rupee value of the point) – SilkRummy fees

For example, 5 players play a rummy game ‘r 2 / Point’. Player 5 declares and the other four rummy players lose with 10, 20, 30, and 40 points respectively. The winner’s cash prize will be calculated as 2 x (10 + 20 + 30 + 40) = r 200. This will be credited to the winner’s SilkRummy account after the deduction of the SilkRummy fee.

How does the drop option work?

Each player has an option to drop the game on their turn, for the entire duration of the game. To take advantage of the Drop option, the player must not have chosen a card from the open/closed deck that turn.

First Drop: If a player drops the game on his first turn, he gets 20 points.

Middle Drop: If a player drops the game on a different turn than the first, he gets 40 points.

Special case: if a player loses 3 consecutive turns, he/she is automatically removed from the game. This means that this player gets an average score.
